Introduction
This tutorial covers how to redeem a customers points for a reward using the Shopify POS app (Also compatible with Shopify Lite and Pro.)
✅This tutorial is only applicable to Shopify merchants.
📋 Note: In order for Shopify POS to work, you need to first add some POS-specific rewards. Here's how: Setup POS-specific rewards
📋 Note: Program participation for customers without accounts does not apply to Shopify POS. Regardless of your program participation settings - your customers need to be a member to be able to redeem points in Shopify POS.
Shopify POS
If you are using the new Shopify POS app, you'll want to:
Click 'Add Tile' > 'App'> 'Smile':
Select 'App Extensions'> 'Smile: Rewards & Loyalty':
After that you should see the Smile tile on your POS grid:
Once this is added you should be able to see this tile light up whenever you:
add a customer to the order
add a product to the cart
The customer needs to be a program member (regardless of your settings in Settings > Program Participants),
and has enough points for at least one of your POS rewards:
How a customer can become a member
Customers need to be members in Smile in order to be able to redeem points for POS rewards. If they are a Guest - the Smile POS tile will not light up when they're added to the cart.
For a customer to turn into a member, they have 2 options:
Create an account through your online store (if you want, you can add a QR code in your storefront linked to your account creation page to encourage customers to sign up)
place a POS order associated to their customer email (once the POS order is marked as paid - the customer will become a member)
