# Customize referral domain

> Set a custom domain for your referral links.

Customizing your referral links with a branded domain is a great way to build brand trust and credibility with newly referred customers.

## Add a custom referral domain

Adding a custom referral domain in Smile involves three parts:

**Part 1: Add your custom domain in Smile**

1. From Smile Admin, navigate to **Program** > **[Referrals](https://app.smile.io/reward-programs/referrals)**.
2. In the **Custom referral domain** section, click **Edit**.
3. Enter the custom domain you'd like to use.
4. Click **Add domain**.

**Part 2: Point your DNS provider to Smile**

1. Log in to your DNS provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc.).
2. Create a CNAME or ALIAS record that points your custom domain to **[refs.smile.io](http://refs.smile.io/)**.

**Part 3: Verify domain connection in Smile**

1. From Smile Admin, navigate again to **Program** > **[Referrals](https://app.smile.io/reward-programs/referrals)**.
2. In the **Custom referral domain** section, click **Refresh status.**
3. Confirm that the domain has been successfully connected—a green checkmark ✅ will appear if successful.

  **Note:** Your program's original **i.refs.cc** referral links will always remain functional, regardless of the custom domain you choose.
