# Klaviyo integration setup

> Setup instructions for installing and configuring the Smile and Klaviyo integration.

## Install the Klaviyo integration

To install and configure the Smile and Klaviyo integration:

1. In **Smile Admin**, install the [Klaviyo integration](https://app.smile.io/integrations/klaviyo).
2. Follow the instructions to connect the integration to your Klaviyo account.
3. Once connected, on the Klaviyo integration [settings page](https://app.smile.io/integrations/klaviyo), click **Sync customer data**.

  **Note:** The first data sync can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours, and only needs to happen once. The exact duration will depend on the number of customers in  your Smile account.

## Customize Klaviyo with loyalty data

Once you've setup the Klaviyo integration, the possibilities are endless! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

* [Create segments](/en/integrations/klaviyo/segments) of customers based on Smile loyalty data, and use these segments for targeted email campaigns.
* [Use pre-built Klaviyo flows](/en/integrations/klaviyo/flows) to send fully customizable reward program emails through your Klaviyo account (instead of using Smile's built-in emails).
* Add reward information to email campaigns by using the [Smile profile properties](/en/integrations/klaviyo/data-syncing#profile-properties) in your Klaviyo emails.
* **Display loyalty data in [<u>Klaviyo Customer Hub</u>](https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/33660482389659)** — After [<u>adding Smile to your Customer Hub</u>](https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/33660672085019), it will show a customer's points balance, next or best reward, and loyalty tier. You can display additional Smile data (such as Smile Referral URL or Smile VIP Tier Name) by adding [<u>personalization tags</u>](https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/33660517680795) to custom content blocks in your Customer Hub template. These sections are managed in Klaviyo and can be removed or updated there at any time.
