# Mailchimp integration overview

> Connect Smile.io with Mailchimp to sync points balance and VIP tier into your email campaigns.

## About Mailchimp

[Mailchimp](https://mailchimp.com/) is an email and SMS marketing platform that helps ecommerce brands run targeted campaigns and always-on automations. When connected to Smile, you can sync loyalty data into Mailchimp audiences and use it to segment campaigns and personalize email content.

## Features and functionality

With the Smile and Mailchimp integration, you can:

* Sync points balance, VIP tier, and referral URL to Mailchimp contacts
* Segment audiences by points balance or VIP tier
* Use merge tags to display loyalty data in email campaigns

## Integration requirements

To use the Smile and Mailchimp integration, you must meet the following requirements:
