# Create segments in Mailchimp

> Use Mailchimp to create segments of customers based on Smile loyalty data.

With the Smile and Mailchimp integration installed, you can create segments based on Smile loyalty data, and then target these segments with email campaigns.

## Create a segment

To create a segment, follow the steps below:

1. From the Mailchimp dashboard, navigate to **Audience** > **Segments**.
2. Click **Create segment**.
3. In the **Select or search a filter** dropdown box, choose any of the [Smile merge fields](/en/integrations/mailchimp/setup#merge-fields).
4. Click **Review segment**.
5. Click **Use segment**.
6. In the **Segment name** section, enter a name.
7. Click **Save & exit**.

  **Tip:** Smile recommends using the **Smile Points Balance** merge field to remind customers to return to your store if they have enough points to redeem a reward!
