Guest checkouts will not earn points 

Many times a customer will make a purchase as a guest before returning to create an account. This customer will not earn points for purchases until they create an account. 

The orders they place will appear in their customer profile within Smile, so you can always go in and manually issue them points for the purchase as a guest if you wish.
