Types of pricing plans

Smile offers two types of pricing plans: those with a fixed order limit (e.g. Free and Starter) and those with dynamic usage-based pricing (e.g., Growth and Plus). Plans with an order limit have a specific cap on the number of orders your store can process before needing to upgrade to a new plan, while usage-based pricing plans have no fixed cap and are billed based on your order volume in a given month.

All accounts start on the Free plan. If you're considering switching plans, you can easily upgrade or downgrade to the one that suits your business best.

Learn more about each plan and its included features by visiting our pricing page.

Understand billing cycles & billing methods

Smile's billing cycles vary depending on the billing method you use. Here's how each works:

  • Shopify Billing: When using Smile on a Shopify store, billing happens via Shopify. Any app charges, such as subscription fees or usage-based fees will be included in your Shopify invoice. These charges are consolidated, meaning you'll see them alongside your regular Shopify subscription billing.

  • Stripe Billing: If you are billed directly by Smile through Stripe, your billing cycle is determined based on the date you subscribed.

  • Invoice Billing: If you are using invoice billing, your billing cycle is unique to your invoicing agreement.

Change your plan

You can change your plan at any time. To make changes:

1. From Smile Admin, go to Settings > Billing.

2. Click Change Plan.

3. Choose your new plan.

Once confirmed, changes take effect immediately.

Cancel your plan

If you need to cancel your plan, follow these steps:

1. From Smile Admin, go to Settings > Billing.

2. Click Cancel Plan.

3. Follow the prompts to confirm your cancellation.

⚠️ Warning: If you are over the Free plan order limit, you will lose access to managing your loyalty program after cancellation.

Update your billing information

Keeping your billing information (like your credit card number or expiry date) up to date is important to ensure uninterrupted access to your Smile account. How to update your billing details varies depending on the billing method your account uses. Here's how each works:

  • Shopify Billing: If you pay for Smile through Shopify, you can update your billing information directly in Shopify.

  • Stripe Billing: If your credit card is billed directly by Smile through Stripe, you can update your billing information in Smile Admin. Go to Settings > Billing, click Update, and follow the instructions provided.

  • Invoice Billing: If you pay for Smile via manual invoice, please reach out to our team to update your billing information.
