What this feature translates


Smile Admin translations control the language used inside Smile Admin. This is the interface you use to set up and manage your loyalty program.

This setting affects only what you see in Smile Admin. It does not translate any customer-facing content, including the panel, embedded content, or emails.

Supported languages


Smile supports different languages depending on where translations are used. Smile Admin translations currently support nine languages:

  • German (Deutsch)

  • English

  • Spanish (Español)

  • French (Français)

  • Italian (Italiano)

  • Japanese (日本語)

  • Dutch (Nederlands)

  • Portuguese (Brazil) (Português (Brasil))

  • Simplified Chinese (简体中文)

ℹ️ Note: This article covers Smile Admin translations. Customer-facing Smile content supports a different set of languages. Learn more in Supported Languages in Smile.

How Smile Admin translations work


How Smile Admin translations work depends on your eCommerce platform.

Shopify merchants

For Shopify merchants, Smile Admin automatically matches the language set in your Shopify Admin.

  • When you install Smile or log in for the first time, Smile Admin matches the language used in Shopify Admin.

  • No manual setup is required.

  • You can switch your Smile Admin language to English at any time from your user settings.

BigCommerce merchants

For BigCommerce merchants, Smile Admin translations are manual.

  • Smile Admin displays in English by default.

  • You can choose your preferred Smile Admin language at any time from your user settings.

ℹ️ Note: If you installed Smile before January 20, 2026, your Smile Admin language was set to English and will not be updated automatically. You can manually change your language at any time from your user settings.

How to change your Smile Admin language


To change the language displayed in Smile Admin:

  1. In Smile Admin, navigate to Settings > User.

  2. In the Preferred language card, select one of the supported languages.

  3. Click Save.
