Understand how orders are counted

Learn how Smile calculates your monthly order count, what orders are excluded, and how to track your usage.

Monthly orders are counted based on the calendar month. For example, monthly orders for June include all orders placed on June 1 to June 30. Every order placed at your store during that month contributes to your monthly order total. This includes all orders, whether they are paid, unpaid, or refunded.

ℹ️ Note: Orders placed before you install Smile are not counted towards your order usage.

Excluded orders


Orders without associated customer emails are not counted toward your usage. This includes certain marketplace orders or in-person sales made through your point of sale (POS) system that do not collect customer emails. Only orders with a customer email are included in your monthly order count.

Check your monthly order usage


To check your monthly order usage during the month, in Smile Admin go to Settings > Billing. There, you'll find an up-to-date summary of your monthly order usage along with information on how this fits within any limits your plan might have.
