Deactivating your points program will pause the program for your customers, including points earning and interactions with Smile on your website. You can continue to make changes to your program while it’s deactivated.
💡 Important: The Points, Referral and VIP programs can be deactivated or activated independently of one another. To deactivate another program, read our guides on deactivating a referral program or deactivating a VIP program.
Deactivate or activate your points program
To deactivate or reactivate your points program:
In Smile Admin, navigate to Program > Points.
In the Points status card, click Deactivate or Activate.
📋 Note: All customizations applied prior to deactivating your points program, or changes made while it is deactivated, are saved to your Smile account. You won’t need to re-customize your program after reactivating.
Program behavior while deactivated
While a points program is deactivated:
The panel will not be visible on your website. (Note: if referral and/or VIP programs remain active, these sections will remain visible.)
Points will not be earned and cannot be redeemed.
Points program emails will not be sent.
Points expiry will be paused, and no customer points will expire.
Embedded points content on your website, including points on the product page and redeem-at-checkout, will not be visible.
Previously generated loyalty coupons will remain active and customers will be able to use them.
ℹ️ Note: If a customer’s points are set to expire while your program is deactivated, their points will not expire and their individual expiry date will be reset if the program is reactivated. Their new expiry period will start again from the reactivation date.
