Adding limits to an earning action allows you to control how often a customer can earn points for that action, or select which actions are available to different customers in your VIP program. It can be a useful tool to encourage more interaction with a particular earning action, or take into consideration your margins in limiting the number of times a customer can earn.

Set a points earning limit

Earning limits are time-based, and allow you to select how often a customer can earn points for an action over a period of time. The limit begins the first time a customer earns points for the action. Once the selected time period has passed, a customer is eligible to earn points for that action again.

To set a points earning limit:

  1. In Smile Admin, navigate to Program > Points.

  2. In the Ways to earn card find the action you'd like to limit, click Edit.

  3. In the Earning value card, check the box for Limit the number of times each customer can complete this action.

  4. Choose the timeframe and enter number of times you'd like the customer to be able to complete the earning action.

  5. Click Save.

ℹ️ Note: Like and Follow social media actions are one-time earning actions and cannot be changed.
