When a customer purchases a gift card from your store they will not earn points for the purchase. The points are earned by the recipient of the gift card when they go to spend it.

Points are issued when the gift card is used to make a purchase, not when the gift card is initially purchased. This is done to prevent points from being awarded twice during the gift card purchase process.

⚠️ Since Rise products aren't coded within Shopify as gift cards, we do not have a way to identify them within the Smile system and/or block them from earning points on both ends. If you choose to use Rise gift cards with a Smile program, please be aware that customers will essentially earn double points based on your existing earning rules.
