Looking for a simple way to get started with Smile? Use this checklist to set up the essentials, launch your loyalty program, and get it in front of customers. This guide focuses on a straightforward launch. Your setup may include additional steps depending on your program, integrations, and store requirements.
Feature availability: Some features in this guide are only available on certain Smile plans or eCommerce platforms. Check the linked setup guides for specific availability and requirements.

1. Set up your loyalty program

Start by setting up the programs you want to include in your launch.

Points program

Start with a few ways for customers to earn points, such as purchases and account creation. Then, add a few rewards at different values so customers have something to work toward. For our full points program recommendations, see 3 steps to build the best points program.

Referral program

If you’re using referrals, choose a reward for the customer making the referral and an incentive for their friend. Keeping the value similar on both sides is a simple place to start. For our full referral recommendations, see 3 steps to build the best referral program.

VIP program

VIP is available on Growth, Plus, and Enterprise plans. If you’re using VIP, start with a simple tier structure and clear milestones, then decide what rewards and perks customers will receive.
Note: If you’re moving from another loyalty program or already have customer points balances, you can import existing points with a CSV file.

2. Customize the customer experience

Customize your loyalty program to match your brand and make it easy for customers to find. You can also give customers additional ways to discover and interact with your loyalty program:
  • Add a loyalty landing page to give customers a dedicated place to learn about your program
  • If you’re on a Growth, Plus, or Enterprise plan, consider adding Loyalty Hub alongside or instead of the loyalty panel

3. Connect your integrations

Integrations are available on paid Smile plans. Connect Smile with the other tools you use, such as your email marketing, customer support, or reviews apps.
  • Connect any integrations you want to use
See Smile’s integrations overview to find setup guides for supported apps.

4. Launch your program

  • Turn on the programs you want to launch
Once your program is live, let your customers know about it through channels like email, your homepage, and your ongoing marketing.
Note: If you’d like to run through the customer experience yourself, see Test your loyalty program.
