Adding restrictions to your rewards lets you define how they can be used. You can require a minimum spend or limit a reward to a specific product collection.
Note: To add a new reward, follow our guide on configuring ways to redeem points.

Set a minimum purchase amount

A minimum purchase restriction can only be added to Amount discount, Percentage off, and Free product rewards.
  1. From Smile Admin, go to Program > Points.
  2. In the Ways to redeem card, find the reward and click Edit.
  3. In the Minimum requirement card, select Minimum purchase amount.
  4. Enter the minimum amount as a whole number greater than 0.
  5. Click Save.
Note: Your store platform checks whether the order meets the minimum purchase amount when the discount is applied. If the reward is limited to a specific collection, only products in that collection count toward the minimum.Free product rewards: Online, the minimum applies only to the price of the product being discounted, not the whole cart. At POS, it applies to the customer’s total cart value.

Limit to a specific collection

To restrict a reward to certain products, you can limit it to specific collections in your store.
Important: This feature is only available for merchants on Shopify. The collection you want to select must already exist in Shopify before following the steps below.
To add a collection restriction to a reward:
  1. In Smile Admin, navigate to Program > Points.
  2. In the Ways to redeem card, find the reward you want to modify, and click Edit.
  3. In the Applies to card, select Specific collection.
  4. Use the dropdown to select the collection you’d like to restrict the reward to.
  5. Click Save.
Note: A collection restriction can only be added to Amount discount and Percentage off rewards. If you also set a minimum purchase amount, only products in the selected collection count toward the minimum.

What you can’t restrict

Percentage off rewards can’t be capped at a maximum discount amount (for example, “50% off up to £40”), and rewards can’t require a maximum purchase amount. To cap how much a reward is worth, use an Amount discount reward. Its value is fixed no matter how large the order is.
