Here at Smile, we are on a mission to help as many merchants as possible. With over 60K merchants running Smile to power their rewards and loyalty programs, we receive requests all the time about how someone can recommend Smile to a friend or client. With this in mind, we have created a simple Give/Get rewards structure that makes it easy for anyone to refer a new merchant to Smile.

How to log your referral
If you'd like to refer a merchant to Smile, you have two options:
If sending us an email, CC your referral in the thread and please include:
Referral's Store URL
Referral's Contact Name
Referral's Email Address
Your reward preference (Agencies only)
Referral acceptance criteria
In order for your referral to be accepted, it must be made with 3 months of the store subscribing to a paid plan. In the event that a large volume of referrals is submitted, we may require additional verification from the referred merchants and will let you know.
💡 Rewards qualify for issue after the new merchant has been subscribed to Smile for three consecutive months.
After three months, the new merchant that was referred qualifies for a one-month free reward and the reward to the referrer will depend on who made the referral:
Smile Merchant - If you are currently running Smile and you successfully referred someone, we will also give you a one-month free reward
Agency - If you are an agency and you have successfully referred someone, you have the option of giving your client an additional month free OR you can invoice us following these guidelines to receive the monetary equivalent
Good Samaritan - Currently our program doesn't currently offer a reward for someone who just refers a new merchant to Smile, but we hope to expand our program in the near future to include this. If this is of interest to you, please contact us at email@example.com to let us know.
How to claim your reward
If you have logged your referral following the steps above, our merchant experience team will have a record of this and will be able to follow up via the same email or message thread once the three months have passed to issue your rewards.
If you are an agency, you will need to indicate to us at this time if you would like us to double the reward for your client or if you plan to invoice. If you plan to invoice us, here are the steps to follow.
Fraud or abuse of the program
We reserve the right to exclude anyone from participation in this program at any time for any reason.
Changes or promotions
We reserve the right to change this program at any time for any reason. Any changes will be posted in this article. We may from time to time run short promotions to further incentivize referrals. Any active promotions will appear here and be communicated as broadly as possible.
