You can send a test version of any customer email to see how it appears to your customers.

Send a test email

  1. From Smile Admin, go to Settings > Customer emails.
  2. Select the email you want to test, then click Edit.
  3. Click Send test email.
  4. Enter the email address you want to send the test to.
  5. Click Send test.

What to expect in a test email

  • Dynamic variables appear as placeholders
    Fields like {{customer.first_name}} or {{reward_fulfillment.name}} will not populate with real data in test emails.
  • Unsubscribe link is not active
    The unsubscribe link in test emails is not functional.
  • Your branding is applied
    Your store’s logo, sender name, and branding display as configured.

Tips

  • Check your actual inbox
    Email clients (e.g. Gmail or Outlook) can render emails differently. Sending a test email is the best way to see the final result.
  • Use preview for quick checks
    You can use the in-app preview under Settings > Branding > Email to quickly review visual updates before sending a test.
  • One recipient at a time
    Test emails can only be sent to one address per send.
