Feature availability: Excluding products is available for merchants on Shopify only.
- Exclude individual products — Select specific products that should never earn points.
- Products with a compare-at price set won’t earn points — Automatically exclude sale variants from earning points.
Exclude individual products
Use this option when you never want customers to earn points on certain products. To exclude products:- From Smile Admin, go to Settings > Platform.
- In the Product exclusion section, click Edit.
- Select the products you want to exclude. You can select multiple products.
- Click Save.
Exclude products with a compare-at price set
Use this option when you don’t want customers to earn points on discounted products. When this setting is enabled, Smile excludes any variant that has a compare-at price higher than its current price from earning points. Variants without a compare-at price, or with a compare-at price equal to their current price, continue to earn points. To enable automatic exclusion:- From Smile Admin, go to Settings > Platform.
- Select Products with a compare-at price set won’t earn points.
Note: Only variants on sale are excluded from earning points. Other variants of the same product continue to earn points.
Things to know about product exclusions
- Shopify’s native gift card product is always excluded because the receiving customer earns points when they spend the gift card.
- Third-party gift cards aren’t excluded automatically. If you don’t want customers to earn points on those purchases, add those products to your exclusion list.
- The embedded points on product page widget is automatically hidden on excluded products.
- Excluded products don’t earn points, but they still count toward VIP programs with an ‘amount spent’ goal. The full order value is used to calculate VIP progress, regardless of which products are excluded from earning points.
