Creating a segment within Klaviyo lets you target specific customer groups with relevant communication, helping you build stronger relationships with your customers.

Create a segment

  1. From the Klaviyo admin, navigate to Audience > Lists & Segments.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Click Create segment.
  4. In the Segment builder section, enter the name and any tags for the segment.
  5. In the Select a condition box, choose Properties about someone.
  6. In the first option box, choose from any of the Smile profile properties.
  7. Choose the filters and variables for the remaining sections.
  8. Click Create segment.

Increase points-redemption segment

Tip: Smile recommends this flow to encourage repeat purchases from customers, ultimately adding to your customers’ lifetime value.
  1. From Smile Admin, navigate to Program > Points.
  2. Check your Ways to redeem and note the reward with the lowest number of points to redeem.
  3. From the Klaviyo admin, navigate to Audience > Lists & Segments.
  4. Click Create New.
  5. Click Create segment.
  6. In the Segment builder section, enter the name and any tags for the segment.
  7. In the Select a condition box, choose Properties about someone.
  8. In the first option box, choose Smile Points Balance.
  9. In the second box, choose is greater than.
  10. In the Enter a value box, enter the number of points from step 2.
  11. Click Create segment.
You can then design an email with Smile’s deep links to direct customers back to the reward panel to redeem their points.

Reward program members segment

  1. From the Klaviyo homepage, navigate to Audience > Lists & Segments.
  2. Click Create New > Create segment.
  3. Give the segment a name and add any relevant tags.
  4. Under the Definition heading, in the Select a condition dropdown, choose Properties about someone. Then use:
    • Dimension: Smile State
    • equals
    • Dimension value: member
    • Type: Text
  5. Click Create segment.
